How to jump to a cell within a workbook in excel using define Name. As one of my workbook in excel is getting increasing and now it has piles of data in single worksheet, i suddenly in need of some thing called as bookmark or a point in my excel sheet by which i can directly jump to a particular position within workbook or withing spreadsheet.
So i have started exploring the excel 2007 [yeah, i m currently using Microsoft excel 2007] to complete my requirements of some feature similar to bookmarking, which can help me to jump to a particular cell position withing excel worksheet. I just want it to work like a table of content. So after reading this article you should be jump to any excel cell withing workbook or spread sheet.
How to use Define Name to Jump to a Cell within Excel Workbook
Note: This article is written under Excel 2007 environment, but you can try to find the same thing in Excel 2003 or 2010.
Step 1. Open the Excel Spreadsheet and select any workbook.
Step 2. Right Click the Cell and Select Name a Range option, on which you need to make a bookmark or say you want to give it a reference name.
- Give some meaningful name like in this example i have given it like say “Digital_Position” and Click OK button!
- Now you will find all your saved bookmarked name or jump to a cell names in the excel sheet, you can select from the number of available defined names and directly jump to a cell within or outside of the workbook.
